The Romans eBook Grace Cole

Here is the story of Rome and the men and women who made it the greatest empire the world has ever known. Historian Grace Cole writes in vivid detail of the critical events in Rome’s 500-year history and of the complex, flawed leaders - Caesar, Augustus, Caligula, and Constantine – who steered it through the storms of history.
The Romans eBook Grace Cole
This is the third book I’ve read by historian Grace Cole (thanks BookBub), and this one is just as good as the other two - filled with fascinating detail that takes the reader back to ancient Roman times and vivid in its descriptions of people and events. The book is tightly written, so my interest never flagged. It’s a book for readers like me - laypeople not scholars - and I appreciated its accessible style.
My favorite parts of the book dealt with Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, and Marc Antony. The book also includes a section of photos, which I enjoyed.
Recommended for all who relish a good history.

The Romans eBook Grace Cole Reviews
A concise and informative, if not exactly riveting, account of the history, leadership and citizenry of Rome.
The first overview of the development of Rome was an education in itself. I'm half-way thru the book now, and it's been engrossing ever since the beginning.
Read this while on treadmill, I phone. Studied Latin four years many years ago, as well as Christian Bible.
Excellent in every aspect! Cardio rehab, 35 minutes 3 X a week. Davidcmcnair@gmail.com
Good read...I enjoyed it
To put 2000 years if history into a single small volume is a daunting challenge, and Cole has done it well. I would like to have seen a bit more about patronage/clientage and about the baths, both of which were essential institutions in the daily social and commercial life of Rome. Notwithstanding, I highly recommend this to anyone who desires to get a better understanding of this magnificent culture, which is the foundation of our own.
Very interesting and informative without being dry and boring.
Short gallop through two thousand years so no space for fullness or details but very good at its goal. The author takes a bit of space for the big issues you'll probably have questions about. Love that she doesn't present the hegemony as inevitable nor does she spout any nonsense o f Roman superiority in anything but the military. Atta girl!
